Converse is a US company that produces footwear since the early twentieth century. It was founded by Marquis M. Converse in 1908 in Malden, Massachusetts (USA).

The most famous product of the company is the All Star Converse model, created in 1923 by Chuck Taylor, a professional basketball player, to improve his game. In the sixties, seventies and eighties were fashionable in the world of music, in fact many musicians and singers of rock bands wore these shoes and over the years these shoes have spread even among the mass audience. Since the nineties they have become very popular, also thanks to the company's choice to produce many variations on the theme, changing colors, materials and shape of the original shoes. In 1992 he moved production to Asia and lost the Made in USA label. This leaves room for imitations and is one of the reasons that led the company to bankruptcy in 2001. Since 9 July 2003, the Converse brand has been acquired by Nike for 305 million dollars, and the All-Stars have been re-launched as a fashion phenomenon producing many new models with colors and designs of various kinds.

In 1985, Converse created a new model of basketball shoe: The Weapon, produced in many color combinations to adapt to team uniforms, such as yellow/purple for Converse sponsored players of the NBA Los Angeles Lakers franchise, and available both in "high-top" version that "low cut". In 2003 the new edition came out: The Loaded Weapon.
